9th November 2000 - Penrith Conservative Club

Strange night for the band this one!! A very poor turnout caused by a major new venue opening in the town and a big local family party elsewhere meant an unusual atmosphere. But did this mean that WIPEOUT were down? Not on your life!! We played in exactly the way that we always do ...100%... and the audience reacted with gusto. A few new faces in the audience and some excellent comments on the band made everthing worthwhile.

24th November 2000 - Bampton Village hall

Payback time for WIPEOUT and a happy occasion it is too. We were asked by Lesley White to appear at the village hall as a fundraiser and we happily agreed. Lesley and her husband Malcolm run the excellent Guitar Weekends at their Beckfoot Country House Hotel and have given WIPEOUT and amazing amount of help and encouragement from the days before the band even had a name (or a drummer come to that) and so it was a pleasure for us to pay back some of that generousity. A Great venue to allow Charlie to debeut his new top of the range Yamaha Maple Custom drum kit which provided a great sound for the rhythm section. A marvellous little venue with excellent facillities meant that we felt totally at home and welcome. We played our hearts out and relaxed into a pleasurable night for both the audience and ourselves.

23rd December 2000 - Longtown Social Club

A Christmas special at a real fun venue. We have played at Longtown a lot and it's always enjoyable. A bad throat (which developed into FLU for Beejay) could not put a damper on events. It was a slightly different crowd in this time with many more younger ones in the audience and they really did want to party!! So it's off to the new year in real good form with an ever developing set list and a lot of new features.

27th January 2001 - Harraby Catholic Club

"It's been a long time since we Rock & Rolled" said Led Zeppelin and it's very true for us at Harraby, almost 2 years since our last visit and a real night to remember. This is a great club with a better atmosphere. A couple of new songs in our repetoir made for an even more enjoyable night with more sounds to add to WIPEOUT's armoury. The distressing thing though is that once again we had a couple of people asking why we "didn't do any 90's stuff" they got quite upset when we pointed them to our posters which clearly states what we do. It's rather like advertising ourselves as a jazz trio then turning up as a 5 piece playing heavey metal, we do just what it says on the poster, 50's & 60's rock & pop! and we do it well.

24th February 2001 - Brampton Golf Club

"Probably the best gig we've ever palyed" is how Darren (WIPEOUT sound man extraordinaire) described this gig. A superb place to play with excellent acoustics, superb facillities and a cooking audience. They started dancing as the first bars of the first song "Move It" belted out and they didn't stop until the dying throws of "Need Your Love So Bad" at the the end of the night. This was a charity event for the Brampton Cottage Hospital League of Friends with some of Carlisle's highest dignitaries in the audience including the Leader of the City Council. Once again WIPEOUT made a contribution to a very worthwhile cause with a lot of funds being raised on the night.

7th April 2001 - Thursby Villiage Hall

How does a band celibrate the 40th birthday of one of it's members??? They have a gig!! That's what!! Last gig at Brampton Golf Club was also Laurie's birthday (60th believe it or not and fitter than any of the rest of us!!) This time it is Mike's turn for a birthday so the band turnned out at Thursby once again ably supported by AJ's disco (for the 3rd time) and Mike was joined by another birthday special in the form of Lindsay, she claimed to have turned 40 but only looked 21 so we didn't believe her! A great gig and a totally relaxed gig which gave us the oportunity to try even more new songs which went down a storm with new songs from the Stones, Bo Didley, The Searchers and Jeff Beck.

28th April 2001 - Penrith British Legion

Back to the RBL at Penrith and a superb night was in the offing. The night started off quiet for the first set with a small number of audience present..."oh well" we all thought, one of those nights, so we retired to the other bar between the first & second set. Well on our return we didnt believe it, the club was filled to capacity with a crowd that just wanted to dance and we were happy to oblige. A welcome visit by Mike Lindsay of local band "Back to Basics" helped build an even better atmosphere. Even more new songs debuted at the gig was fun but it's getting to the point that we need about 5 hours to play our full set and frankly we are having more trouble deciding what to leave out rather than wat to include.

5th May 2001 - Carlisle Liberal Club

This really is one of those clubs that really makes you want to come back time and time again. The audience make you feel so at home and the venue, although small, is comfortable, it's like playing to a whole load of friends. The new songs in the repetoir went down a storm and to a capacity audience as the signs went up saying "full" as we came on stage. It's also another club which really appreciates WIPEOUT's line up of real musicians playing live music rather than a couple of people singing along to backing tapes, it's got to the point at some venues that Charlie is almost hero worshiped by the audience as they never normally see a real drummer..

6th May 2001 - The Scotch Arms, Brampton

The first pub gig in a long time for WIPEOUT and a chance to let our hair down and see what we can do in a non cabaret situation once again. Pubs are very different from the normal club or function environment, the banter goes out of the window, the volume goes up and the tempo goes up too. We had a cracking gig with the audience really going for it. We had tough competition in the town too with another local artist appearing at a neighboring venue but that didn't stop us packing the place proving once again that WIPEOUT are "THE" band for any venue.

16th June 2001 - Locharbriggs Social Club, Dumfries

First time at this excellent venue north of the border at Dumfries. A great stage, wide and lots of space made us really comfortable and the newley re-vamped decor kept the audience comfortable too. Once again WIPEOUT decided to keep the pressure on ourselves by debeuting yet more new material and it went down a storm. A large dance floor took a bit of filling but we managed it well.
